Fish oil is usually sold on total oil weight, but EPA and DHA are the omega-3 fatty acids the oil is actually taken for. A standard 1000 mg softgel is roughly 30% omega-3 β€” about 180 mg EPA and 120 mg DHA. Nutrigo Omega 3 is concentrated to about 75%: 600 mg EPA and 300 mg DHA from 1200 mg of oil, in a single softgel.

CoQ10 is sold across a similarly wide range. Most products in Malaysia contain 30–100 mg per serving, which means two or three capsules daily to reach a higher intake. Nutrigo provides 300 mg of ubidecarenone in one.

FAQ

What is the difference between ubiquinone and ubiquinol?

They are the two forms CoQ10 takes in the body, and it converts between them continuously. Ubiquinone is the more stable form and the one used in most research. Ubiquinol is less stable in storage and generally costs more.

Can I take CoQ10 and fish oil together?

They are commonly taken alongside each other. If you take prescription medication, particularly blood-thinning medication, check with your doctor or pharmacist first.

When is the best time to take them?

Both are fat-soluble, so take them with a meal containing some fat. Morning or evening makes no difference. Read more when to take your supplements in our guide here.

Will the fish oil cause an aftertaste?

Taking it with a meal rather than on an empty stomach usually prevents it. Refrigerating the bottle also helps.

Are these products halal certified?

Yes, both are certified by NZIDT, which is recognised by JAKIM. Omega 3 uses a fish gelatin shell; CoQ10 uses halal-certified bovine gelatin.
